Caribou Coffee is the second leading coffee house operator in the world. In size it's second only to the perceived industry giant- Starbucks. John and Kim Puckett in Edina, Minnesota began caribou Coffee. It was discovered that Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi, chairman of the board of the First Islamic Bank a branch of the Bank of Bahrain, had acquired almost 50% of the common shares in the company. It caused a real rift amidst investors. The storm subsided a little as al-Qaradawi removed himself from the chairmanship that year. Despite the minor setbacks since, Caribou Coffee remains the producer of much of the world's finest coffees and teas.
