The Elixirs of Strife – Coffee & Caffeine

Bean to cup coffee makers can be known as automatic coffee machines. These coffee makers will use whole fresh coffee beans to produce a fresh brewed coffee on demand. Rather than the filter machines that use ground coffee, you just place the beans of choice into the hopper and then the coffee maker will grind the beans per cup, pass the water through the fresh ground coffee and then dispose of the remains into a side tub. Fully automatic models such as the Delonghi PrimaDonna will also then froth your milk on autopilot before adding to your cup for the fully automated bean to cup cappuccino.

Other coffee machines will allow you to froth your own milk manually to get the perfect result. Various makes such as Gaggia, Capresso, Saeco, Bosch, Siemens, Bodum and many others offer different types of machines that range from manual, to semi automatic onto fully automatic. They vary considerably in price too, with some costing thousands, even for the home.

Spoon 1 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 1 cup of water into a #6 cone-shaped filter. This larger filter allows freshly-roasted and high-density coffee more room for the water to soak properly into the grounds. Place the filter with coffee grounds on top of at least a 1-quart thermos, and brew directly into it.

A great drip maker combines the essential brewing elements in a specific way. You need a filter that contains a large amount of fresh grounds for each 6 ounces of coffee brewing. The water should be heated to 195-205 degrees F. The water should be allowed to saturate the grounds gently and thoroughly. The total brew cycle, from start to finish, must take from 4 to 6 minutes. If it takes longer than 8 minutes, the coffee will be over-extracted and bitter.

When the water in the kettle reaches a boil, and the kettle whistles, pause for a little bit to achieve a temperature that is just below boiling, which is the ideal temperature for brewing coffee. Wet the grounds with coffee. They will quickly form a cap. After a few seconds, the cap will settle, and you then pour more water over the grounds.

Since almost no coffee maker under $150 can produce great coffee, you will have to sacrifice some flavor when using one. Spend some money on a coffee maker that gets the best reviews, regardless of price, always use quality coffee, and you will come closest to the best cup of coffee possible in an automatic coffee maker.
